CFR:s remarkable suites of portraits are also a kind of interpretations, improvisations in the musical sense. In these, Reuterswärd turns to friends in both the present and the past. They each received their own portrait as an interpretation that included references to their own specific works. In this way the portrait sitter became a co-creator in the same way as a composer is a co-creator even with the most non-restrictive graphical musical score.
